A flood alert has been issued. Property flooding is not currently expected. River levels are high on the River Thame following recent rainfall. Flooding of low lying land and roads is expected to continue today, 01/05/2024, especially in the Thame and Stadhampton areas. River levels have fallen below the flood risk threshold in Aylesbury. Levels further downstream have stabilised or continue to fall. Further rain is forecast this evening and overnight, which has the potential to be heavy at times. River levels are expected to remain high and sensitve to further rainfall over the coming days. We are monitoring the situation. Do not drive through flood water and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. Go to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 03/05/2024, or as the situation changes.

- In rural locations, farmers should consider moving livestock and equipment away from areas likely to flood.
- Avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water - 30 cm of fast-flowing water can move a car and 6 inches can knock an adult off their feet.
- Flood water is dangerous and may be polluted. Wash your hands thoroughly if you’ve been in contact with it.
