Discussion: A line of severe thunderstorms is bringing torrential rain over the area. The heaviest rain from this line of thunderstorms is locations from east of Lac la Croix, northeast through Upsala to Lake Nipigon. Areas within these thunderstorms have the potential to exceed 150 mm.

At 705 PM CDT Tuesday, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of up to one inch are possible in the warned area by midnight. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD,Life threatening flash flooding. Multiple roads are closed or flooded. This includes Highway 169 in Hibbing, and portions of Minnesota Highway 73, 1 and US Highway 53 in northern St. Louis county.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
