What to expect: Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings; Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life; Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible; Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures; Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads.
A flood alert has been issued. This message has been issued because some minor flooding to low lying land, roads and riverside areas is likely from now until tomorrow morning, Thursday 23 May. River levels are currently high due to the ongoing groundwater flooding in this area. Areas most at risk are low lying roads and riverside areas on the Deben from Debenham to Ufford, including Framsden, Earl Soham, Easton, Glevering and Wickham Market, and on the Rivers Lark and Finn around Witnesham, Tuddenham St Martin, Playford and Grundisburgh. We are not currently expecting the situation to escalate, or to issue any further warning messages at this time. The forecast is for showers to get more scattered and less intense as we move into more settled weather. Flood water is dangerous. Don't put yourself or others at risk. We are monitoring the situation and not expecting the situation to escalate. We will update this message on Thursday 23 May, or as the situation changes.
