Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. The Standby Signal, No. 1 is in force. This means that a tropical cyclone now centred within about 800 kilometres of Hong Kong may affect us. At 7 a.m., Typhoon Fung-wong was estimated to be about 550 kilometres southeast of Hong Kong (near 19.4 degrees north 118.4 degrees east) and is forecast to move north at about 12 kilometres per hour crossing the northeastern part of the South China Sea. In the past few hours, Fung-wong continued to adopt a northerly track and edged closer to the coast of Guangdong. There will be occasionally strong northerly winds offshore locally today (11 November), up to gale force on high ground. However, due to terrain sheltering effect, the chance of having persistent strong winds generally over the territory is relatively low this morning. The Standby Signal, No. 1 will remain in force before noon today. Fung-wong is expected to be closest to Hong Kong between later today to overnight, skirting more than 400 kilometres to the east of Hong Kong. Depending on the intensity change of Fung-wong and its distance from Hong Kong, the impact of the northeast monsoon on Fung-wong, and local wind conditions, the Observatory will assess the need for issuing the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 or the Strong Monsoon Signal. Fung-wong will then move towards the vicinity of Taiwan, departing from Hong Kong and weakening gradually. There will be swells. Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports.

Construction and property management practitioners should make sure that overhanging facilities and temporary structures outdoors are securely fastened, and should take precautionary measures. 6.
