THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 245 IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN NORTH CAROLINA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 11 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA ANSON CUMBERLAND HARNETT HOKE LEE MONTGOMERY MOORE RICHMOND SAMPSON SCOTLAND STANLY THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ABERDEEN, ALBEMARLE, ANGIER, BUIES CREEK, CAMP MACKALL, CARTHAGE, CLINTON, DUNN, ELLERBE, ERWIN, FAYETTEVILLE, HOPE MILLS, LAURINBURG, LILLINGTON, PINEHURST, POLKTON, RAEFORD, ROCKINGHAM, ROSEBORO, SANFORD, SOUTHERN PINES, SPRING LAKE, TROY, WADESBORO, AND WAGRAM.

- At 541 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include, Wadesboro, Polkton, Lilesville, Morven, Peachland, McFarlan, White Store and Blewett Falls Lake.

Slow down and use caution while driving to avoid hydroplaning. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
