history+ with historical weather data since 1960

history+ is the perfect tool to analyse past weather conditions for any location on Earth – back to 1960 in an easy-to-use interface with many different analysis tools.

The latest history+ update extends the time range of historical weather data to more than 60 years, for any place on Earth. The new ERA5T weather model now provides weather data from 1960 onwards in seamless hourly steps in our unique analysis interface. This improvement now allows you to analyse weather conditions for essential events of almost everyone’s life:

  • Almost 90% of the world’s population can now check out the precise weather conditions at their date and hour of birth.
  • 98% of the world's population can now analyse events of their grown-up lives, such as weddings, children's birth dates, starting a job or a business and others.
  • Historical events such as the Apollo programme rocket launches, the Cuban crisis, the Berlin Wall fall, 9/11, mass migrations and others, and many others can now be analysed in the context of weather.

In the history+ interface, you can directly select between the low- and high-resolution model and the ERA5T reanalysis models for your desired location. The low and high-resolution models are computed by meteoblue and available without delay. Furthermore, this history+ update reduces the re-analysis model delay from 3 months to 8 days. The historical data can be downloaded as raw data, visualised as a diagram or further processed in history+ analysis tools such as year comparisons, wind roses or risk assessments.

Besides extending the data time range, we have also improved the usability of history+ by adding a separate navigation. The location credits are now managed in an improved location management overview. Once the location is activated, the data and tools are directly activated, and you can immediately start using the other features.

To better understand the service, you can test history+ without a subscription and explore the endless possibilities of historical weather data in a free test available for Basel, Switzerland.

We hope you enjoy history+ and the new functions and appreciate your feedback!
