The southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf is strengthening while the low-pressure cell covers central and the Tonkin Bay. Isolated heavy rains are likely in the country. The rather strong wind and waves in the upper Andaman Sea are likely 2–3 meters high and above 3 meters high in thundershowers while 1–2 meters high in the lower Andaman Sea and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. In the Gulf, the waves have about 1 meter high 1-2 meters high offshore and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. In addition, an active low-pressure cell over the lower Bay of Bengal will intensify to the tropical depression during 23-24 May. It is expected to make landfall over northeastern of India and Bangladesh during 25-26 May.
People should beware of heavy to very heavy rains that may cause flash floods and overflows especially, along waterways and lowlands, and take more caution in thundershowers. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers areas. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea keep ashore during 23-26 May.
