The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Minnesota

Minnesota River at Savage affecting Hennepin, Dakota, Carver and Scott Counties.

Minnesota River at Morton affecting Redwood and Renville Counties.

Minnesota River at Montevideo affecting Chippewa, Lac qui Parle and Yellow Medicine Counties.

  • Water levels have been steadily falling on the Minnesota, but currently remain at minor flood stage at Savage, Morton, and Montevideo. Precipitation returns on Saturday and may be heavy across portions of southern Minnesota. Looking ahead, there will be almost daily rain and storm chances through the first half of next week may result in an upward trend in river levels.

  • WHAT: Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

  • WHERE: Minnesota River at Savage.

  • WHEN: Until early tomorrow afternoon.

  • IMPACTS: At 702.0 feet, Barge loading affected at Port Cargill, and other flood prevention measures are begun. Water begins to impact Black Dog Road in Burnsville.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

    • At 900 AM CDT Friday, the stage was 702.2 feet.
    • Recent Activity: The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 900 AM CDT Friday was 702.4 feet.
    • Forecast: The river is expected to fall below flood stage this evening and continue falling to 698.8 feet Friday, June 21.
    • Flood stage is 702.0 feet.
    • Flood History: This crest compares to a previous crest of 702.1 feet on 04/09/1967.
