Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

WHERE: A portion of southeast South Dakota, including the following counties, Bon Homme, Clay, Davison, Hanson, Hutchinson, McCook, Turner and Yankton.

IMPACTS: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations continues. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding.

- At 943 AM CDT, Emergency management reported flooding from earlier heavy rain continues. Between 3 and 9 inches of rain have fallen.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include, Mitchell, Parkston, Parker, Lake Vermillion State Recreation Area, Salem, Freeman, Scotland, Marion, Canistota, Alexandria, Menno, Bridgewater, Montrose, Emery, Irene, Ethan, Mayfield, Kaylor, Monroe and Spencer In McCook County.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.
