There is a slight chance for thunderstorms and heavy rain tomorrow evening, but strong capping in the atmosphere means most areas will stay dry. Another 1 to 2 inches of rain may fall with any thunderstorms that develop, with the best chance for this happening across northeast Minnesota & northwest Wisconsin.

More widespread rain continues to look possible Thursday night into Friday. The forecast rainfall amounts with this system will be captured in the river forecasts that are issued Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

  • WHERE: Minnesota River at Savage.

  • WHEN: Until further notice.

  • IMPACTS: At 712.0 feet, Water begins to back up in Credit River to affect hwy 101.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

    • At 700 PM CDT Sunday, the stage was 707.1 feet.
    • Recent Activity: The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 700 PM CDT Sunday was 707.1 feet.
    • Forecast: The river is expected to rise to a crest of 711.5 feet early Friday afternoon.
    • Flood stage is 702.0 feet.
    • Flood History: This crest compares to a previous crest of 711.6 feet on 03/29/2011.
