South Chickamauga Creek Near Chickamauga TN affecting Hamilton and Catoosa Counties.

The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Tennessee

Sequatchie River Near Whitwell TN affecting Bledsoe, Sequatchie and Marion Counties.

For the South Chickamauga,including Chickamauga TN,Minor flooding is forecast. For the Sequatchie River,including Whitwell TN,Minor flooding is forecast.

  • WHAT: Minor flooding is forecast.

  • WHERE: South Chickamauga Creek near Chickamauga TN.

  • WHEN: From this afternoon to late tomorrow morning.

  • IMPACTS: At 18.0 feet, Water begins to cross Mack Smith Road in Catoosa County, Georgia. Flooding begins at golf courses near the confluence of South and West Chickamauga Creeks. West Chickamauga Creek begins to overflow its banks, as well. At 19.0 feet, Water across Mack Smith road begins to impede traffic. West Chickamauga Creek overflows its banks near the Georgia state line and inundates several roads and properties in the area. At 20.0 feet, Mack Smith Road is closed. Water crosses Lovell Field Loop, the access road around the north end of the airport runway.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

    • At 9:15 AM EDT Friday the stage was 17.4 feet.
    • Bankfull stage is 18.0 feet.
    • Forecast: The river is expected to rise above flood stage this afternoon to a crest of 18.5 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage late tonight.
    • Flood stage is 18.0 feet.

West Chickamauga Creek at GA 146 near Lakeview affecting Hamilton and Catoosa Counties.

  • WHAT: Minor flooding is forecast.

  • WHERE: West Chickamauga Creek at GA 146 near Lakeview.

  • WHEN: From this evening to just after midnight tonight.

  • IMPACTS: At 11 feet, Flood Stage is reached. Minor flooding begins of woodlands and fields near the creek upstream and downstream from the gage on the Georgia Highway 146 or Cloud Springs Road bridge. Minor flooding of the creek can also be expected further downstream as it crosses the Tennessee border into the south East Ridge area.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

    • At 9:15 AM EDT Friday the stage was 10.7 feet and rising slowly.
    • Forecast: The river is expected to rise to a crest of 11 feet this evening.
    • Flood stage is 11 feet.
