STORM INFORMATION: At 1 AM ChST,the center of Super Typhoon Bavi (09W) was located near latitude 13.7N,longitude 146.5E. This was about 115 miles east of Guam. Storm motion was west, 270 degrees, at 10 mph. Storm intensity was 180 mph.

SITUATION OVERVIEW: Super Typhoon Bavi (09W) has nearly maxed out the T number scale for intense a tropical cyclone can get. This devastating category 5 tropical cyclone could hit any of the Mariana Islands, at this time the most likely for a direct hit looks like it might be Rota.
In addition to catastrophic wind damage, Bavi could end up packing storm surge damage, runup damage, and beach erosion.

Surf will potentially build to 35 feet this morning, especially near Rota, and 30 feet elsewhere as Bavi makes its passage through the Marianas as a Category 5 Super Typhoon. During the passage of Bavi, coastal inundation could approach 12 feet, especially near the storm center passing over Rota due to the dome effect. Once Bavi exits to the west- northwest by Tuesday, coastal inundation and erosion is likely to increase along west facing shores while easing elsewhere.
