meteoblue newsletter 2017/01

Dear meteoblue users, we hope you enjoyed a peaceful Christmas time and had a successful start into the New Year 2017. In the first newsletter of 2017, we are introducing our brand new Android app, our new dynamic weather maps and a story about weather in paragliding.

Finally, it is there: the long-awaited meteoblue weather App for Android smartphones, which gives you one-touch overview of the detailed weather for any place in the world. It also offers some exclusive functions, such as precision meteograms, where2go and our dynamic weather maps (see news below). Compressed data transmission makes updates much quicker than on the website, and data storage allows consultation offline. You can deactivate the ads for only 0.99€/year.
Further upgrades are planned, including a widget and multi-model meteograms.
For power users, who want everything, we continue to optimize our meteoblue website to the usage of mobile devices.
Although lots of work went into the Android App, to make it suitable for hundreds of devices and operating system versions, we may have missed one or the other bug. Write us with your suggestions.

To start: Get your Android app now on the Google Play Store.

Unique interactive weather maps

The new interactive weather maps provide a unique overview of the weather for any place in the world: they allow spatial and fully personalized analysis of dozens of weather variables. You can zoom the maps from global to regional and local level for all variables, worldwide.

Select any point and start: You can then combine clouds and precipitation with wind, check current temperatures against forecast, look at the jet stream or desert dust, or make excursions into the waves of the "furious fifties", and hundreds (or thousands?) of options more. And you can click on any point on the map to get the local All-in-One meteogram. The most popular maps are freely available and all others can be accessed with point+.

Write us with suggestions for good combinations or questions.

Ski, sail or surf?

Are you planning any skiing or snowboarding activities? Check out our new weather maps to find the best spot! You can see the estimated daily snowfall and snow depths for the next 4-5 days within your region of interest. Fresh powder snow combined with sunny weather, that can be found with the where2go function can help make your next winter sports trip an unforgettable experience! PS: finding places also works for warm temperatures (hikers), wind (sailors), waves (surfers) and others.

Paraglider use meteoblue - worldwide

The Association of paragliding pilots and instructors (APPI) uses meteoblue point+ services in their worldwide instructors workshops for paragliders. The picture shows paragliding pilots in Iran being trained about thermal conditions using the meteoblue "Stueve & Sounding" service. For hot air balloon rides, trajectories are the tool of choice. This adds to the unmatched range of possibilities to visualize weather offered to aviators by meteoblue.
