Website updates: New look and 2-hour radar forecast for the US and Canada

In June, our website received further improvements. The 7-day weather forecast now has a very slick design. The radar forecast for Canada and the US was extended to 2 hours, and the radar composites improved.

In this article, we want to brief you on the latest website improvement and enhancements:

New 7-day weather design on the start page

As you have probably already observed, the 7-day weather overview on our start page was redesigned - for the desktop and mobile view. We have chosen a tidier way to represent the weather icons and the temperatures, so you can now see more clearly how the weather will develop over the next few days. Furthermore, the predictability display was re-designed. Predictability indicates the estimated certainty of our forecast considering pressure, precipitation, temperature, and wind and is, therefore, an essential tool for interpreting our forecast data. When all predictability symbols are filled, the forecast certainty is very high. This helps to identify uncertainties in the forecast. In cases with low predictabilities, we recommend comparing the forecasts of different models with our MultiModel, and updating the forecast data more often to include the latest updates and nowcasting improvements.

2-hour radar forecast for the US and Canada

The radar forecast time range for Canada and the US has been extended to 2 hours, along with additional radar improvements that now increase the resolution and quality of the radar data for that particular region. This data is also included in the weather forecast data shown on the start page or in the meteogram. You can access the radar forecasts through our radar weather maps, which can also be found on the start page, and in our rainNOW overview in 15-minute time steps on the weather today page. rainNOW is part of our point+ subscription providing access to premium website content without ads.

We appreciate your feedback on our latest developments.
