Under present weather conditions, At 3:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm "BASYANG" {PENHA} was estimated based on all available data in the vicinity of Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte (9.4°N, 125.6°E) with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 90 km/h. It is moving West Northwestward at 25 km/h. Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern and Central Luzon. The 12-hour rainfall forecast is moderate to occasionally heavy rains . Afterwards, it will emerge over Sulu Sea, pass close to Cuyo Islands, and cross the northern portion of Palawan. BASYANG will likely remain a tropical storm while traversing the Central Visayas and Negros Island Region. Further weakening into a tropical depression is possible tonight or tomorrow morning and will be downgraded into a low pressure area by Sunday (08 February) morning.

By tomorrow evening or Saturday (07 February) early morning, it will emerge over Sulu Sea, then traverse the northern portion of Palawan between Saturday afternoon and evening. BASYANG is forecast to slightly weaken upon landfall as it interacts with the landmass but it will likely remain a tropical storm. Further weakening into a tropical depression is forecast by Saturday and will be downgraded into a low pressure area by Sunday (08 February) afternoon or evening.

By this evening, it will emerge over Sulu Sea then traverse the northern portion of Palawan between Saturday afternoon and evening. BASYANG has slightly weakened due to interaction with the landmass but it will likely remain a tropical storm. Further weakening into a tropical depression is possible by this evening or tomorrow morning and will be downgraded into a low pressure area by Sunday (08 February) afternoon or evening.
