A flood alert has been issued. River Levels are high on the River Aire due to today's persistent heavy rainfall, 22/05/2024. The rain is forecast to continue to move up from the southeast and continue into Thursday morning, 23/05/2024. We have seen a response in the River Aire throughout the day and this is forecast to continue overnight with levels currently forecast to peak at 4.30am at Castleford. Flooding is possible from the River Aire, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around River Aire from Stockbridge to Castleford, including Bradford Beck, Oulton Beck and Kippax Beck. We are closely monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.
