Oficiálne vysvetlenia varovania:

A flood alert has been issued. Groundwater levels remain high at our Farringdon borehole near Alton. Groundwater levels remain above normal levels for this time of year and are currently stabilised at this level and are starting to decline slowly. The catchment remains sensitive to rainfall due to the saturated ground and levels may start to increase again if we receive further rainfall. Low lying land, gardens, roads and cellars will therefore continue to be at risk of flooding. Due to the nature of groundwater behaviour, this situation could continue for several weeks. An overall declining trend is expected as we move out of winter and through spring. However, any heavy rainfall may change the trends and prolong high levels or cause levels to rise again. We are continuing to monitor groundwater levels and will update this message on 14/05/2024, or as the situation changes.
