A flood alert has been issued. River levels are rising at the Tern - Walcot river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall overnight. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible to begin by lunch time today We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Wolverley to Newport. Other locations that may be affected include Market Drayton, Wem and Rodington. No further rainfall is forecast today. We expect river levels to remain high this afternoon. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. This message will be updated by 09:00 on 17/06/24, or as the situation changes.
