A flood alert has been issued. River levels are rising on the Bristol Avon and Semington Brook due to heavy overnight rainfall. Areas most at risk include low lying land and roads between Melksham and Bathford. The flood gates at Holt Road may be closed. The rainfall has moved out of the area but some showers are possible and rivers are expected to peak on Sunday evening 28/04/2024. We are monitoring river levels and are checking rivers for blockages in the area. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. This message will be updated by 8:00 PM on 28/04/2024, or as the situation changes.
