A north-northeast (010 to 020 degrees) swell of 7 to 9 feet at 13 seconds will generate surges in north facing harbors, mainly at Hilo and Kahului, as well as breaking waves near the harbor entrances through Tuesday. Mariners using these harbors should exercise caution when entering or leaving port and when mooring or launching vessels. The swell will remain elevated Wednesday and Thursday, but the swell direction will shift out of the northeast, which will reduce the threat of surges.
