Satelitní snímek v reálném čase kombinuje viditelné světlo během dne s infračerveným zářením během noci. V noci snímek není tmavý, protože infračervené záření dokáže detekovat teplotní rozdíly. Bohužel je obtížné odlišit nízkou oblačnost a mlhu od teplot povrchu, a proto mohou být v noci téměř neviditelné. Satelitní snímky Meteosat pro Evropu se aktualizují v reálném čase každých 5 minut.
