«beta» are now «Weathermaps»

Our «Weathermaps» have now left «beta» stage and are our main and evolving maps offer. The previous «Weathermaps (legacy)» will be supported until all relevant features have been added to the new newer «Weathermaps».

The development of our "Weather maps (beta)" aimed at introducing new, unique features of zooming, multi-layering, speed and animation. These features are now fully functional and have therefore left the "beta" stage. They are now "Weather maps". The previous "Weather maps (legacy)" will continue to be offered and supported on our website until all relevant features have been added to the newer "Weather maps".

This is only a minor change in the navigation: in the left-hand side menu, the previous selection between "weather maps (beta)", and "weather maps" suggested that "weather maps (beta)" is newer than "weather maps". Today, we have renamed these two map visualisers:

Former "weather maps (beta)" will from today onwards be known as "weather maps" and Former "weather maps" will be called "weather maps (legacy)".

With this step, the weather map "beta" become the new primary weather map offer of meteoblue, available to our website and app users as well as our commercial customers. These will be further expanded, by adding further weather variables, layers, animations, functionality and speed.

So, goodbye to weather maps legacy? Not yet: Our previous, now "weather maps (legacy)" will remain in the menu under the changed name. We are retaining these maps for several reasons: some of our users are still more familiar with the interface, selected features of the "weather maps (legacy)" and some features (mainly for aviation) have yet to be moved into the new weather maps.

Our aim is to make the "Weather maps" so good that everyone will be using the new maps, and only then retire the "weather maps (legacy)". Some of the new features, like our temperature and precipitation observations are already much more beautiful than the previous version!

We hope you like these updates and appreciate further suggestions for improvement!
