After receiving many requests from our app users to distinguish day and night weather icons in our apps (which we have already done for years on our website), we have also added them to our weather apps. You can find them in the daily overview on the app’s start screen. These night pictograms are displayed in addition to the day pictograms, and summarize the weather conditions during nighttime:
The day pictograms allow a quick summary of the day. This is useful for users who are predominantly active during the day and not interested in the conditions during the night since they can now immediately see the weather conditions during the day. For night-active people (such as star-gazers), the night pictogram enables a quick overview of the predominant conditions at night. This is, of course, not the necessary (and possible) detail of the forecast, but a great decision support.
Along with these pictos, we also implemented slight design improvements for a cleaner, modern look and readability optimizations (e.g. increased the font and content size displayed in our meteograms).
In addition, our in-app help was improved. On iOS devices, click on the 3 dots, or on the question mark symbol in the right corner of the screen to access the help that navigates you through the different symbols. For Android devices, long-press on the screen to receive help for the symbol/feature of interest.
These changes became available with the latest app update for our Android App (version 2.7.11), and iOS app (version 1.12.0).
We hope these upgrades further enhance your app experience and would appreciate a positive app rating in the Apple AppStore or Google Play Store.
