  • WHAT: Temperatures from 100 to 104 expected in the lower elevations, including the Rio Grande Valley, and from 95 to 98 in the surrounding higher terrain including the Gallup area.

  • WHERE: Portions of central and western New Mexico, including Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

  • WHEN: From noon today to 8 PM MDT this evening.

  • IMPACTS: Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Record high temperatures will occur. Individuals involved in flash flood recovery efforts across Gallup and Zuni Pueblo should take extra precautions. The hottest temperatures will be across the San Juan River Valley, including Farmington, Bloomfield, and Shiprock.

Instructions:

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
