Official warning explanations:
  • WHAT: Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches in the valleys and 3 to 6 inches across higher elevations. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph.

  • WHERE: Central and Eastern Interior.

  • WHEN: From 10 PM this evening to 10 PM AKDT Tuesday.

  • IMPACTS: Travel could be difficult at times. Areas of falling and or blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, with icy surface conditions also possible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS: A cold front moving west to east across the Interior tonight through Tuesday will support moderate to heavy bands of snow and gusty winds. Conditions are expected to improve west to east throughout the day Tuesday as a colder and drier airmass moves in. Overnight lows Tuesday night into Wednesday morning will be much colder than previous days, dropping for most to the single digits above and below zero.
