At 400 PM AST, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were located over the coastal waters of western and northern Puerto Rico, and just east of St. John, moving west northwest around 15 knots.

Instructions:

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Intense lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.

  • WHEN: From Tuesday morning through Tuesday afternoon.

  • IMPACTS: Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.
