It is moving Southeastward slowly. Southwest Monsoon affecting Southern Luzon and the western section of Visayas. The 12-hour rainfall forecast is moderate to OCCASIONAL heavy rains and thunderstorms. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction. Minor to moderate impacts from gale-force winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 2. Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions. TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. MAYMAY will move generally eastward and may make landfall over Ilocos Sur or La Union by this afternoon or evening. Afterwards, it will traverse the landmass of Northern and Central Luzon until tomorrow (06 August). MAYMAY is forecast remain as a tropical storm as it approaches the Philippine landmass. After making landfall, MAYMAY will weaken into a tropical depression by tomorrow morning and may be downgraded further into a low pressure area by tomorrow afternoon or evening.
