Spring snowmelt is expanding across rivers in the Copper River Basin. Area rivers and streams can expect to see widespread rises, with minor flooding likely in low areas near rivers.

  • WHAT: Flooding caused by snowmelt continues to be possible.

  • WHERE: The following area, Copper River Basin. This includes the cities of Glennallen, Eureka, Mccarthy, Paxson, And Slana.

  • WHEN: Through Friday morning.

  • IMPACTS: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

    • Snowmelt continues in the Copper River Basin, with locations such as Moose and Trooper Creeks at Glennallen continuing to see flooding. Warming conditions will continue to allow snowmelt and rapid rises on rivers and streams in the Copper River Basin through the week.
