The areas affected include, Anegada Passage east of Virgin Gorda and Saint Croix south to 17N, Atlantic Waters of Puerto Rico AND USVI from 10 NM to 19.5N, Coastal Waters east of Puerto Rico, around Vieques, and around and just north of Culebra and Saint John, Coastal Waters from Cabo San Juan to the waters between Anegada Island and Virgin Gorda and North 10 NM, Coastal Waters of Northern Puerto Rico out 10 NM, Coastal Waters of Southern Puerto Rico out 10 NM,

At 443 PM AST, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots and frequent lightning. Waterspouts are possible. These thunderstorms were located over the waters between the US Virgin Islands, Vieques, Culebra and eastern Puerto Rico and the local Atlantic waters, moving north at 10 knots.

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Intense lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects. Report severe weather to the Coast Guard or nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.
