A flood alert has been issued. River levels remain high on the Lower Hampshire Avon due to high groundwater levels. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Avon, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around tributaries between Ringwood and Christchurch. The forecast for the weekend is for further heavy showers on Friday night and again on Saturday night into Sunday morning. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk, cycle or drive through flood water. We will continue to monitor the weather and this message will be updated by 5:00 PM on 29/04/2024, or as the situation changes.
