Special Weather Statement issued June 11 at 10:10PM AKDT by NWS Juneau AK
Moderate weather warning
Now
From Thursday 22:10 (12 hours ago)
Until Today 16:00 (5 hours from now)
Official warning explanations:

A low pressure system will bring increased moisture toward Yakutat and the northern gulf coast this weekend. This event will not be long in duration, lasting around 24 to 48 hours. It will bring heavy rain during most of the event, with the most likely scenario being 2 to 4 inches of rain over 24 hours. There is an 80% chance of greater than 2 inches in 24 hours and a 60% chance of greater than 3 inches of rain in 48 hours. There is also a 30% chance that rainfall totals approach or even slightly exceed 4 inches. That being said, no flooding is expected at this time. There are likely to be rises in river levels, but soil moisture is still low (around 50% to 60%). This means that most of the rain will be absorbed into the ground. We will continue to monitor the development of this system and any possible impacts. Additionally, the low pressure system is expected to bring deteriorating marine conditions beginning Friday night. Seas could build to 10 to 15 ft, with gale force easterly winds possible along the northern Gulf coastal waters over the weekend.
