Hot temperatures are expected across South-Central Texas today. High temperatures of 100 to 105 and spotty heat indices of 108 to 112 are expected across the Rio Grande Plains and Winter Garden regions this afternoon. This includes Atascosa, Frio, Dimmit, Zavala, Uvalde, Maverick, Kinney and Val Verde counties. Those spending extended time outdoors and not acclimated to this heat could be susceptible to heat related illness if not taking proper heat precautions, such as drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks out of the sun and heat.
