An unseasonably cool weather system will impact NM tonight and Friday with several inches of snow possible in the northern high terrain above 9,000 feet. Rain and high elevation snow showers will develop this afternoon then increase in coverage tonight and early Friday. Snowfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches are possible with locally higher amounts possible above 10,000 feet. Folks planning recreation activities in the higher terrain of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the San Juan/Tusas Mountains should be prepared for accumulating snowfall and cold temperatures. Low visibility is also expected with localized slick travel possible through Bobcat Pass and portions of U.S. 64 near Hopewell Lake.
