On May 12, 2024, the Haikou Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow warning signal for thunderstorms and strong winds: Due to the influence of convective cloud clusters, there may be thunderstorms and strong winds in Jiuzhou Town, Hongqi Town, Jiazi Town, Sanmenpo Town, Dapo Town, Sanjiang Town, Yaopo Town, and Longquan Town in our city from 16:28 to 20:00, with wind speeds reaching 7-9 levels and accompanied by strong lightning and local short-term heavy rainfall. It is recommended that relevant units and personnel take preventive measures.
1. The government and relevant departments shall carry out wind and lightning protection work in accordance with their responsibilities; 2. Personnel should stay indoors with good wind resistance and close doors and windows; 3. Outdoor personnel should hide in buildings or cars with lightning protection facilities; Do not shelter from rain under trees, electric poles, or tower cranes; Do not use umbrellas or carry agricultural tools on your shoulders in open areas; 4. Cut off hazardous power sources, properly place outdoor items that are susceptible to strong winds, and cover building materials; 5. Units such as airports, highways, and water transportation should take measures to ensure traffic safety; 6. Water operations in relevant waters and passing ships returning to the port for shelter, and strengthening port facilities.
