At 3:31 a.m. CDT (4:31 a.m. EDT), Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking an area of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts, loonie to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain. Thunderstorm Location: About 40 km (42 km) northwest of Shabuskwia Lake Motion: Moving east at 45 km/h Hazards: Wind: damaging up to 90 km/h Hail: up to quarter size (up to 2.5 cm) Rain: heavy (15 - 50 mm) Locations in the Path: Shabuskwia Lake Attwood Lake Miminiska Lake Petawanga Lake Keezhik Lake Ozhiski Lake Machawaian Lake ### Fast-moving and rapidly rising water can sweep vehicles away and damage infrastructure. Large hail may cause significant damage and injury. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.
Take immediate cover if a thunderstorm approaches. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
