At 620 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include, New Orleans, Kenner, Harvey, Chalmette, Metairie, Jefferson, Gretna, Arabi, Terrytown, Bridge City, Elmwood, Meraux, River Ridge, Violet and New Orleans Armstrong Airport.

  • WHERE: Portions of southeast Louisiana, including the following parishes, Central Jefferson, Central Plaquemines, Central St. Charles, Central Tangipahoa, Coastal Jefferson, Eastern Orleans, Lower Plaquemines, Lower St. Bernard, Lower St. Charles, Lower Tangipahoa, Northern St. Tammany, Northern Tangipahoa, Southeast St. Tammany, Southwestern St. Tammany, St. John The Baptist, Upper Jefferson, Upper Plaquemines, Upper St. Bernard, Upper St. Charles, Washington and Western Orleans and southern Mississippi, including the following counties, Pearl River, Pike and Walthall.

  • WHEN: Through Sunday evening.

  • IMPACTS: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

    • Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms producing locally heavy rainfall are expected this evening and continuing through Sunday. A large area with rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches with locally higher amounts of 6 to 8 inches is expected in the watch area through Sunday evening.
