An early season round of hot temperatures is expected over South Texas today and continuing into much of this week. High temperatures today could reach the middle 90s over most areas and as high as 105 over parts Val Verde County and the Rio Grande Plains. Heat index values could climb into the 104 to 109 degree range over much of the the I-35 Corridor, Coastal Prairies, and Rio Grande Plains. Those spending extended time outdoors and not acclimated to the heat could be susceptible to heat related illness if not taking proper heat precautions, such as drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks out of the sun and heat. Heat Advisories may be issued at some point this week, with the hottest days of the week projected to be Friday into the weekend.
