The Near-Equatorial Trough (NET) has become very active across eastern Micronesia, with numerous to widespread heavy showers south of Majuro. A weak disturbance, Invest 93W, has also formed along the NET near 5N168E. The NET and associated convection look to drift northward over the next few days, as Invest 93W slowly moves west- northwest. Little development is expected with 93W as it moves out, however, it will help increase rainfall potential across the region. Heavy rainfall of 5 to 10 inches, with locally heavier amounts, is possible over the next several days. This could lead to local flooding of roadways, with possible deep standing water and streaming into the ocean. The heavy rainfall will also result in reduced visibilities, making travel dangerous. Use caution when traveling over the next several days. The NET is showing the potential to remain active into the middle of next week, possibly resulting in a prolonged period of heavy rains.
