These thunderstorms were located over the coastal waters of western and northern Puerto Rico, and just east of St. John, moving west northwest around 15 knots. Additional thunderstorms are expected to develop across these waters and move into the offshore Atlantic waters and the Mona Passage during the rest of the afternoon hours.
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Intense lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.
