A las 105 PM AST, el radar Doppler indic tormentas elctricas fuertes, capaces de producir vientos de alrededor de 30 nudos. Estas tormentas elctricas estaban localizadas sobre las aguas costeras del oeste y norte de Puerto Rico, y justo al este de San John, movindose hacia el oeste del noroeste alrededor de 15 nudos. Se esperan tormentas elctricas adicionales que se desarrollen a travs de estas aguas y se muevan hacia las aguas mar afuera del Atlntico y el Pasaje de Mona durante el resto de las horas de la tarde.

MEDIDAS DE PRECAUCIN/PREPARACIN,

Los navegantes pueden esperar rfagas de vientos de alrededor de 30 nudos, oleaje localmente ms alto, y rayos. Los navegantes deben buscar puerto seguro inmediatamente hasta que esta tormenta pase.

Rayos intensos estn ocurriendo con esta tormenta. Si es atrapado en mar abierto, permanezca bajo cubierta si es posible, alejado de objetos metlicos no conectados a tierra.

    • At 136 PM AST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen.
    • Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

At 105 PM AST, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were located over the coastal waters of western and northern Puerto Rico, and just east of St. John, moving west northwest around 15 knots. Additional thunderstorms are expected to develop across these waters and move into the offshore Atlantic waters and the Mona Passage during the rest of the afternoon hours.

Instructions:

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Intense lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.
