RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM MDT THIS EVENING DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE NORTHEAST PLAINS AND NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS

  • Humidity will trend down some today, while wind speeds trend up sufficiently to produce critical fire weather conditions across portions of northeast NM during the afternoon and early evening hours. Several hours of single digit humidity values are expected across the Northeast Highlands.
  • AFFECTED AREA: Northeast Plains (Zone 104) and Northeast Highlands (Zone 123).

  • TIMING: From 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM MDT this evening.

  • 20 FOOT WINDS: Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

  • RELATIVE HUMIDITY: Relative humidity between 6 to 15 percent.

  • IMPACTS: Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
