A strong high pressure system is expected to induce an increase in windy weather conditions over the southern half of Zambia from Wednesday 17th June to Saturday 20th June, 2026. These strong winds are likely to result in dusty conditions, reduced visibility, and disruptions to water transport activities on major water bodies, including Lake Kariba.
Water transport operators and users are advised to suspend or exercise extreme caution when conducting activities on affected water bodies, particularly Lake Kariba, due to hazardous windy conditions. Members of the public should avoid prolonged exposure to open and dusty areas and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from dust inhalation, which may increase the risk of respiratory illnesses and related health complications.
