Le marqueur est placé sur Shuya. Cette animation montre le radar des précipitations pour la plage horaire sélectionnée, ainsi qu'une 2h prévision. Les croix orange indiquent la foudre. Données fournies par nowcast.de (disponibles aux États-Unis, en Europe et en Australie). Une bruine ou une légère chute de neige peut être invisible pour le radar. L'intensité des précipitations est codée par couleur, allant du turquoise au rouge.
L'image satellite en temps réel combine la lumière visible pendant la journée et le rayonnement infrarouge pendant la nuit. La nuit, l'image n'est pas sombre car le rayonnement infrarouge permet de détecter les différences de température. Malheureusement, les nuages bas et le brouillard sont difficiles à distinguer des températures au sol et peuvent donc être presque invisibles pendant la nuit. Les images des satellites Météosat pour l'Europe sont mises à jour en temps réel toutes les 5 minutes. Les images GOES-16/GOES-17 (Amérique du Nord et du Sud) et Himawari (Asie) sont mises à jour toutes les 10 minutes.
Les précipitations sont estimées à partir de radars et de satellites. Les estimations des précipitations par satellite sont moins précises la nuit que le jour.
