A new function on our website start page now shows extreme wind events and temperature anomalies. These maps automatically appear only when the weather is unusual compared with previous years.
Storm watch
Our storm watch is shown on the meteoblue start page, when extreme wind speeds are to be expected. The wind animation shows the wind speed at 200m above ground, which corresponds well with expected gusts at the surface. You can then easily track storms, hurricanes or other extreme wind events for the current and for the next days. For additional storm information, we also suggest using our weather maps and weather warnings.
Weather anomaly
The weather anomaly is shown when the weather forecast is unusually warm or cold. The comparison is based on 40 years
of historic weather data from our unique simulation models. The background colours of the map indicate for which area the forecast is deemed to be unusual.
In addition, actual measurements are shown as coloured dots. For obtaining more information on such extreme
events, our temperature
weather map or the weather warnings are
recommended. Furthermore, you can use our climate change
diagrams to see how temperatures developed over time for a selected location and the climate comparison charts that
compares the current season to previous years.
We are sure that this helps to better detect storms and weather anomalies and appreciate any feedback.
