Thousands of New Stations Enhancing Weather Maps and mLM

meteoblue has broadened its weather monitoring capabilities by incorporating additional station data from countries across Europe and beyond, providing more precise and timely atmospheric insights for both individuals and businesses.

We have significantly expanded our Observed Weather maps by adding high-quality weather station data from various European countries and Australia, as well as improving the processing and integration of the more than 40.000 stations covering the American continent. The new stations are provided by the respective national hydrometeorological institutes, ensuring top reliability and frequent updates, ranging from 10-minute to hourly intervals.

This enhancement brings a substantial increase in observational coverage, with the following number of weather stations newly added per country:

  • 1,675 in Norway (and adjacent areas)
  • 724 in Poland
  • 675 in Australia
  • 434 in Czechia
  • 193 in Portugal
  • 151 in Estonia
  • 148 in Denmark
  • 108 in Slovenia
  • 52 in Lithuania
  • 34 in Latvia

The upgrade improves multiple meteoblue services, including the Weather Maps and the meteoblue Learning MultiModel (mLM). With access to more precise and frequent weather observations, both private and corporate users will experience improved accuracy in real-time weather data. Private customers can now benefit from more reliable local weather forecasts, supporting outdoor planning, travel, or daily activities. Businesses can optimise operations by making better weather-dependent decisions, reducing risks, and enhancing planning for a wide range of industries, including agriculture, energy management and transportation.

Looking ahead, meteoblue plans to extend this expansion, further strengthening the global observational network.

Stay tuned!

@hannes416: Thank you for your comment. Expanding coverage in regions such as South Africa is indeed a consideration for future developments. While we do not have specific updates at this time, we remain committed to continuously enhancing our global observational network.
