Inspiring the Next Generation of Energy Experts: meteoblue at ISUenergy

At the end of the summer, students of renewable energy from around the world met at ISUenergy 2025 in Falera, Switzerland, to develop practical solutions for a sustainable energy future – supported by professional expertise and reliable meteorological data.

The International Summer University for Renewable Energies (ISUenergy), a two-week intensive programme taking place in the Swiss Alps, hosted 25 students from 12 countries and 3 continents. Through lectures, expert advice, practical groupwork and excursions, the initiative contributed to advancing renewable energy development. Reliable meteorological data is a key input into renewable energy production, and meteoblue supported the initiative with top-accuracy data.

Background

Since 2009, ISUenergy has trained more than 400 students in interdisciplinary approaches to renewable-energy systems. meteoblue has been part of the programme for over a decade, contributing expert knowledge, presentations, and data access, including history+.

ISUenergy 2025

The 2025 edition ran from 24th August to 5th September in Falera, Switzerland. Participants engaged in lectures, workshops, and group projects covering energy production, storage and grid integration, as well as system sustainability. The programme combined foundation lectures with practical assignments such as PV-module configuration and energy-system modelling.

The Role of meteoblue

meteoblue played the role of a co-sponsor, lecturer, and weather data provider. Our experts also delivered lectures on the application of meteorological data in renewable energy planning.

Participants and Impact

The participants represented diverse disciplines, including systems engineering, architecture, economics, physics, and environmental sciences. Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students were all welcome to take part. By applying meteoblue data in their projects, they gained practical skills in tackling real-world challenges. The programme is known for fostering new collaborations between universities, companies, and students, supporting future innovation in renewable-energy solutions.

Towards a Sustainable Future

With its unique mix of academic expertise, practical training, and international exchange, ISUenergy continues to inspire the next generation of renewable-energy leaders. By equipping students with cutting-edge tools such as meteoblue data and fostering global collaboration, the programme strengthens the foundation for a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable energy future – and meteoblue is proud to contribute to this important mission.
