We are proud to announce a significant advancement in our precipitation forecasting capabilities. The meteoblue Learning MultiModel (mLM) has achieved a major advancement in accuracy, improving time assessment of the forecasted precipitation events by 10 - 20% across global locations.
The map above indicates the increase of up to 20% in precipitation forecast accuracy for the period of 48 – 72 hours in the future.
This innovation stems from a continuous refinement of the mLM (which currently crunches data from 30 - 40 raw weather models, depending on the desired location). A key improvement lies in how the mLM processes the available raw model data to provide significantly more accurate timing of precipitation events - an essential factor for informed decision-making in weather-sensitive industries.
Why This Matters
This marks a major leap - not a simple tweak, but a true breakthrough. With improved time resolution, our forecasts are now better at answering the most pressing question: When will it rain? Rather than focusing solely on the absolute volume of precipitation, the enhanced mLM helps pinpoint the timing of rainfall events with far greater precision.
Whether it's for planning outdoor activities, managing logistics, or operating weather-dependent infrastructure, this new level of forecast accuracy represents a competitive edge – both for us and for our users.
Universally Available
The improved forecast is already live across all our platforms, from the meteoblue website to all of our API-based products. This enhancement applies globally and automatically - no configuration from the user’s side is required.
What’s Next?
More precise forecasts mean better decisions – everywhere, every day. This improvement reinforces our mission to make complex weather data simple, accessible, and impactful for everyone who relies on it.
