FLOODING IS POSSIBLE IN THE FLOOD WATCH AREA FROM SATURDAY A tropical low is forecast to move into the Top End and deepen during the weekend, then track westwards across the Timor Sea from Sunday or early next week. This could bring widespread falls, some possibly heavy in parts of the Flood Watch area. Catchments are moderately wet in the Flood Watch area. River level rises, localised flooding, and overland inundation are possible in parts of the Flood Watch area, which may affect road access. Some communities may become isolated. Check road conditions before travelling.

HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING may develop about western parts of the Top End, including the Tiwi Islands and Coburg Peninsula, during Saturday. 6-hourly totals of 30 to 70mm are likely, with isolated falls in excess of 140 mm possible. 24-hourly totals of 30 to 100mm are likely, with isolated falls of 200mm possible. There is large uncertainty with where and when this rainfall will develop, with the onset possibly as early as Saturday morning in some areas. Rainfall may persist into Sunday and Monday, most likely for coastal areas.

      Warning areas and rainfall rates are highly dependent upon the development and movement of Tropical Low 16U. Residents of the Top End should monitor forecasts for updates.
