DAMAGING SURF CONDITIONS which may lead to coastal erosion and localised damage to coastal infrastructure are likely between the NSW/VIC border and Seal Rocks, particularly for south facing beaches. Minor sea water flooding of low lying south facing coastal areas is also possible during the early Saturday morning high tide.

      Beach conditions in these areas could be dangerous and people should stay well away from the surf and surf exposed areas.

      Damaging surf conditions are expected to ease later on Saturday.

      Separate Severe Weather and Hazardous Surf Warnings are current at the time of issue.

DAMAGING SOUTHERLY WIND GUSTS with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are likely to develop over parts of the Snowy Mountains and South Coast from this morning, before spreading northwards into the remainder of the warning area during this afternoon. Wind gusts along the coastal fringe of the South Coast and Illawarra may reach 110 km/h this morning and during the afternoon, potentially up to 120 km/h at exposed southerly locations.

      For ALPINE areas above 1900 m: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 80 to 90 km/h are possible from this morning and into the afternoon, with BLIZZARD conditions also possible.

      Conditions are expected to ease below warning thresholds throughout by late this evening or early Saturday morning.
