NENENG CONTINUES TO MOVE SLOWLY OVER THE COASTAL WATERS OF EASTERN TAIWAN. Location of eye/center : The center of Tropical Depression NENENG was estimated based on all available data at at 450 km North of Itbayat, Batanes (24.8, 122.2). Strength : Maximum winds of 45 kph near the centerand gustiness of up to 55 kph. Forecast movement : Forecast to move North Northeastward at Slowly kph Forecast position : Aug 20, 2026 08:00 PM - 540 km North of Itbayat, Batanes HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND AREAS Severe Winds The Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds): Today until Saturday (22 August): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga del Norte. HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS 24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 4.0 m: The western seaboards of Batanes and Babuyan Islands. Up to 3.5 m: The seaboards of Ilocos Norte; the remaining seaboards of Batanes. Up to 3.0 m: The seaboards of Ilocos Sur and Zambales; the western seaboard of Pangasinan; the northwestern seaboard of Kalayaan Islands. Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions. Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 2.5 m: The seaboards of La Union and Lubang Islands; the northern seaboard of Pangasinan; the western seaboard of Batangas; the western and southern seaboards of Bataan. Up to 2.0 m: The western seaboard of Occidental Mindoro; the northern and western seaboards of northern Palawan including Calamian Islands; the remaining seaboards of Babuyan Islands and Kalayaan Islands. Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m. TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. NENENG is forecast to move generally northward. The center of NENENG may continue to move over the waters off the eastern coast of Taiwan and may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility within the next 12 hours. This tropical cyclone may weaken into a remnant low within the forecast period.
