At 1248 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a cluster of strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds up to 30 knots and small hail. These thunderstorms were located near Grand Sable Dunes, or 10 nm northeast of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore over Lake Superior, moving south at 40 knots.
These strong thunderstorms will likely produce winds up to 30 knots, and could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A special marine warning may eventually be required when these thunderstorms reach the Lake Michigan waters. Boaters should consider heading for shore before these thunderstorms arrive.
